Brazil’s vehicle market remains strong in 2026. According to Fernando Calmon’s column published by Revista O Mecânico on October 14, Anfavea (the national automakers’ association) now forecasts 3.1 million light and heavy vehicles sold this year, up 15.2% from 2025. Its previous estimate called for growth of just 2.7%.

September confirmed the trend: about 281,000 vehicles were registered, the highest monthly figure since December 2014. According to Fenabrave (the dealers’ association), registrations from January to September reached 2.26 million units, 18.09% above the same period last year. Fenabrave, usually more conservative, is keeping its 2.9 million-unit forecast (+7.9%) for now and may revise it in November.

The mix of vehicles is changing too. Fenabrave attributes part of the growth to a wider range of hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric models. Imports also rose 30.4% from January to September, and Chinese brands grew 106.4% in the period, gaining market share.

Why does this matter for maintenance businesses?

More cars sold today means more vehicles leaving warranty in the coming years and arriving at independent repair shops. A growing share of them will be electrified, carry more complex electronics and use parts from brands that are new to the country.

A few practical steps can help you make the most of this moment:

  • Training: invest in hybrid and EV courses, including high-voltage safety.
  • Suppliers: map distributors that already serve new and imported brands.
  • Tools: assess scan tools and diagnostic equipment compatible with the models most common in your area.
  • Data: track which makes and models come into your shop to plan inventory and services.

With the VEXCOM ERP, you keep a full history of every vehicle and customer, see which makes and models visit your shop most, and adjust your parts inventory based on real data. See the features.
